SIN, What is it?

Posted by Benjie in , , ,

So I'm reading my new copy of Christian Ethics Today Journal and find the box that shares this little tidbit of information

Eighty-seven percent of Americans believe in the concept of sin. what counts as sinful behavior? Here's the percentage of Americans who view certain activities as sinful:
  • 81% Adultry (sic)
  • 74% Racism
  • 65% Use of hard drugs
  • 56% Abortion
  • 52% Homosexual activity
  • 52% Underreporting income30% Gambling
  • 29% Telling a "little white lie" (from Ellison Research/RNS - March 14)

Of course, we've gone to ranking sin and ordering how sinful sinful behavior is, but I wonder what percentage of us would mark such things as gluttony, legalism and arrogance as sin. I also wonder if Christ would have an entirely different list.

I've set up a poll question at Mister Poll. Click on over and choose your favorite.

Here's the question: Who's your favorite Scrooge?

If you don't like all the choices--or have a better one, leave a comment in the here. The poll runs from 12/20-12/25 so hurry on over to vote.

First Christmas Poll a Washout

Posted by Benjie in

I thought I'd try the poll option added to Blogger fun things to add. The first week-long poll was about Christmas songs. According to the results the one vote was for "Silent Night." I believe that somehow I hit a vote button, so even the one vote was invalid. For future notice, if you'd like to participate in polls--they'll be over in the side bar.

Happy Holidays everyone. (See, it's okay to say, "Happy Holidays!")

Who Woulda Thunk It?

According to the radio call in contest on the Christian radio station, the one food that most people say they couldn't live without if they were stranded on a desert island is --- PIZZA!!!
It seems to make sense. Pizza includes all the food groups. I'd just want a cold Dr Pepper to wash it down with.
So, what about it? If you were stranded on a desert island, what food could you not live without?
